 Dwelling on his past glory as a prize-winning author, Ryota (Hiroshi Abe) wastes the money he makes as a private detective on gambling and can barely pay child support.

After the death of his father, his aging mother (Kirin Kiki) and beautiful ex-wife (Yoko Make) seem to be moving on with their lives. Renewing contact with his initially distrusting family, Ryota struggles to take back control of his existence and to find a lasting place in the life of his young son (Taiyo Yoshizawa) - until a stormy summer night offers them a chance to truly bond again.

April Movie Night: Director WES ANDERSON (US) 2012

Join us on Wednesday 19 April for Moonrise Kingdom by director Wes Anderson as we follow the scouts on a jamboree to rescue a couple of runaways.  This quirky humourous film won numerous awards and is on many critics top ten lists.

June Movie Night: Britain

EWC Members chose Last Orders written and directed by Fred Schepisi (drama) for our June Movie Night.

Join us at Eumundi School of Arts Hall at 6:40pm on 15 June to immerse ourselves in some good old British drama and some delicious British fare and enjoy performances from some of the best actors that Britain has ever produced - Helen Mirren, Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, Michael Caine, Tom Courtenay, David Hemmings.

May Movie Night: Middle East

Our members voted for My Sweet Pepperland by director Hunar Saleem (2013), a story about a local policeman who stirs up the local bad guy and is helped by a school teacher who is new to the town.  

The film is a German/French co-production set in Kurdestan with spectacular cinematography of the local landscape and customs.
